The ideal goverment is one that is ethical and altrustic in nature; It should work for the people, not itself or corporations. This was the type of goverment our founding fathers had in mind when they created the constitution. In theory this is a hard goverment to argue against, and I myself don't argue against this theory. However, theory and reality don't always match, this is the case for our goverment. The goverments currently favors the corporations, not the majority of people(both parties are guilty of this). This is because politicians interest is in being re-elected, not in doing what is ethical, and the corporations are the politicians primary source of funding.
To illustrate this point lets look at the food industry. The food industry is concerned with efficiency, not ethics. Their cattle are grown in mass feed lots, and they made to be more fat than they evolved to be. The food industry is also not concerned with diseases, until it becomes a widespread epidemic (ie. mad cow, salminila etc.) The ethical thing to do would be to put more restrictions on the meat companies, but the current political landscape doesn't allow this to happen.
However, there is an important relationship between ethics and polotics. When the majority of the public demands ethical change polotical change occurs as well. The public can also change corporations with their money. If everyone bought organic foods, the supermarkets would only carry organic food.

Corps have their hands in everything; and disguise as sheep in wolf's clothing...which phrase, ironically, is (according to Wikipedia) " originated by Jesus and is recorded the Gospel of Matthew "

If you can't always buy locally &/or organically, at least shoot for eliminating the worst of the worst....

Don't even get me started on meat, poultry & fish farms...
ALWAYS eat ORGANIC (hormone free/ free range, locally raised) meat, poultry and eggs! No exceptions!
BTW, cage free doesn't always = free range and healthy--those terms, also "defined (or not legally so)" by money/FDA/lobbyists can mean, simply, the animal has access to the outside. Quality, size, duration, etc is NOT specified...-- there are no laws.
What is truly "organic" can also be a tricky web.

And let's not forget that the "Founding Fathers" were (for the most part) rich lawyers creating the Constitution to protect & further their own self-interests...is THAT not a corporate state of mind?
